Looks a day for value at Sandown with big fields and a note on what the weather does.
In Race 8, Lord Durante has been waiting to get his toe in the ground and should the track hold some give in it, he’s a strong chance.
Only run down late at Caulfield last time, it took a good horse at the run before in Charmed Harmony to grab him over what was probably an unsuitable distance.
He’s at peak fitness now to be finding the front and with Gauci running it to suit, they can get to the best part of the track when desired.
The race is full of these older middle distance types but at least he’s been right there of late.
The last then sees a few who haven’t been winning for some time but Spreadeagled returned well enough to suggest he can get back to the ways of the previous preparation.
In that, the first one since arriving from NZ, he won four times including importantly two at Sandown.
They were on good going but he also won on the soft at Moonee Valley so nothing should phase him.
1100m was clearly too short when resuming and he can peel out wide and finish on with this nice weight.
