It is HG Bolton Sprint day at Belmont and the track surface plus the way it plays are critical as there has been plenty of rain in recent times.

There might be the jar out of the surface which shouldn’t hurt any runners.

Really like the fact Simon Miller has put his good sprinter First Among Equals over 1200m first up and not shorter.

It took him a few runs to get into last prep but they were over shorter. His Pinjarra Classic win was excellent coming from last.

This field is no harder at all. He has trialled similarly to his normal pattern and as long as there is pace on and they can run on, he’s a show.

Coming off two wins in town, giving Cronkite the chance to make it a three peat.

The Trade Fair gelding has been happy to sit midfield and round them up. He will likely have to use same tactics over the mile.

He certainly looks as though he will run it out. It won’t matter to him what the track surface is either.
