What an outstanding program at Caulfield, featuring the G1 CF Orr Stakes where several of the big names of Australian racing will compete.
There should be some top value all the way through the card but we are waiting until late.
We’ll go to the main race on the day for the first of the odds runners in the WFA star Hartnell.
It’s fair to say not that much went right last time in. He won the Lawrence Stakes then was unable to win the G1s after that before dropping right out in the Melbourne Cup.
The key to him here is that he is first up and he’s run some top races then. Not just the Lawrence win, he was second to Winx in a high rating Apollo and Warwick Stakes before that.
In drawing out he won’t get crossed, can work over quickly brought over by Lord Of The Sky. If he lands in that controlling position, the $6 on offer will be overs you’d think.
They would have thought let’s get another G1 on the CV before we potentially have to run into Winx and this is a good option.
In the final race Anthony Freedman has a mare which deserves a change of luck.
Petition ran well in feature mares races in the Spring without getting a victory.
Just hoping she won’t get all that far back here. Most of the field are in the same boat being first up so there isn’t many advantages there.
She should give us a run for our money again at each way odds.
