Sydney Specials: Randwick - November 3

A pair of lightly-raced four-year-olds can continue their progression through the grades at Rosehill on Saturday.

The first is Dawn Dawn who contests Race 7, a Fillies and Mares Benchmark 88 Handicap (1200m).

Dawn Dawn is dropping back sharply in grade after contesting a mares Group 3 event at Caulfield first up.

It was a strong display on resuming by the daughter of All Too Hard who settled a long way back but was finding the line well late.

Team Hawkes have sent her back to Sydney for what looks an ideal race second up.

The mare wasn’t suited under the Set Weights plus Penalties conditions of the Cape Grim Beef Stakes and now carries less weight dropping in grade on the run under handicap conditions.

She has won second up in the past and her career best win came at this track at the end of her last prep.

Dawn Dawn beat Easy Eddie on that occasion who then went about working through his grades with two subsequent wins and was last seen placing at Randwick in Open company at the back end of last season.

In a small field, she maps to settle midfield and should take holding out back to this level.

Just into each way odds, Isaurian appeals as a value play contesting the Bradford Black Benchmark 88 Handicap (1200m).

The eighth event on the card is an open one with a half dozen genuine winning chances.

Isaurian has commenced his prep well with a first up win at Sandown before a slender second at Moonee Valley.

During the autumn the son of Exceed And Excel ran second at this course and distance in the Listed Darby Munro Stakes behind I Am Excited.

The four-year-old is a talented, consistent sprinter who would likely earn himself a tilt at stakes success on Zipping Classic Day at Sandown in two weeks if able to salute in this.
