The Cup Carnival is over but the spring is far from finished with Sandown always a great meetings for punters.
It looks a good betting card again this year and we are keen to play the feature where The Taj Mahal appears to get a great chance to replicate his 2017 success in the race.
There he came off a strong run in the Mackinnon whereas this time he comes off a down run in the Moonee Valley Cup. We think that run can be excused. He did work wide there on a day that just wasn't conducive to it and he pulled up lame.
Three weeks on he looks the fresh horse on the scene with key rivals coming off Flemington runs. The stable target this race and they appear to have done just that with The Taj Mahal and if we back them to get him right he is the best horse in the race.
The best horse in the sixth on the card may well turn out to be the favourite Fifty Stars but his now stablemate Holy Snow can boast the best piece of form on offer and at double figure odds in early betting he appeals as an each way gamble worth having.
His latest couple have been underwhelming but his fresh run was good and his placing in the Phar Lap in the autumn behind Unforgotten is a great piece of form for this.
If he can run up to that, at the same trip for the new stable, they will do well to stop him.
