Some Listed racing at Morphettville indicates the carnival is upon us now.
Really liked the way Despatch aggressively hit the line on Adelaide Cup day and he can repeat that in the Manihi Classic.
That was a BM82 so decent enough level and this may be a Listed race but would not be out of place at that previously mentioned mark.
He’ll be ridden back again by Barend Vorster from the draw and looks for splits but his turn of foot takes him a fair way.
Was hoping punters would bet around him because of the gate and a few others with form out of better recent races but they’ve already found him. Still a winner is a winner.
In the Laelia Stakes, happy to speck Miss Five Hundred to bring her Victorian form further west.
She was ridden back at Pakenham and then surged the final furlong. That is no surprise given the breeding by Dundeel out of a G1 Doomben Cup winner in Cinque Cento.
Doubt she would need to get a long way back from the draw and love the fact she is coming in off the back of two wins.
No doubt she may even be better in the Auraria and then Australasian Oaks as the trips get longer but this is the right class of race for her.
