bet365 Sydney Specials: Randwick – Saturday 8th of June 2024

3 minute read

Monster day of racing at Randwick with 11 on the card and big fields throughout.

11 of the best from Randwick on Saturday due to last week's postponement and almost all races are capacity fields- good luck!

Throw in a dubious looking forecast and we could end up on a very heavy track given it's already at a soft 7 on Thursday, which is likely to see the majority of these races change drastically come race time.

Regardless, all we can work with now is what's in front of us and in the Lord Mayor's Cup, Sir Lucan looks nicely placed to roll to the top and outstay his rivals over the 2000m.

He was good first up with 61.5kg over shorter and then improved nicely in the Gosford Cup at Newcastle, taking the lead around the turn and looking the winner until Hezashocka nabbed him on the line, with a huge margin back to third.

Sir Lucan ran to 112 on the R&S scale there which is on par with his absolute best UK form before coming here. The form out of it has stood up nicely with Hezashocka winning again since and there doesn't appear too much pressure for the front, so King should just be able to stay in the better ground and roll forward as she likes.

Handled the heavy there no worries and looks the bombproof play.

For the each-way play(s) we'll head to the other feature, the Bob Charley AO Stakes where two runners at double figures present as some value.

The main one is Quick Tempo who loves wet tracks. He got onto a soft track last start in the Ortensia Stakes at Scone and ran well behind Opal Ridge, edging out Iowna Merc for second.

He's never missed the quinella on heavy and while I would've preferred a softer draw, he only has to run up to last start to go close and should get conditions to suit.

The other one worth having something on is Bacchanalia who is having his first run for Richard Litt. He hasn't won in over a year, formerly with Godolphin, but his best ratings would go close in this.

This time last year he was running to 110 at Gosford when beaten a long neck by Think About It, and he handles all conditions. Comes here first-up and has won two trials nicely. He could be back near his best here which would make him a huge price if so.
