Canberra Racing Preview - TODAY - Friday 11 October 2024

3 minute read

They will race on a Good 4 with the Rail out 7m the Entire. The track has been playing well and this is a solid betting program. Leading Sydney stables are well represented in the final race on the program.

Goulburn trainer: MATTHEW DALE has some key chances at Canberra Friday. Picture: Racing and Sports

Race 1 1000m MDN

Competitive. Matt Dale-trained SERIAL OFFENDER (8) peaks and has winning claims if we forgive the plain effort at Wagga over 1200m. Went close at this track/trip prior and Day is reunited. The early form reads well, and she should be primed to deliver on her promise. SEEKING TO WIN (3) will likely run them along and will prove tough to peg back. Went well here and even better at Leeton following. Fitter and Bensley is of the above to stick. SHE'S HIGH SOCIETY (4) resumes and has switched to Joseph/Jones from a Sydney barn. Started even money on debut and was immediately tipped out. She won a Warwick Farm trial by 3L leading into that. Will be naturally improved and has claims. TJAKA (9) debuts and has been well-trialled. Heywood is booked and that's a decent push for her chances.

Race 2 1000m BM 50

LA SIGNORA DANE (8) trialled well in town and then was too good for the Maidens here first-up. Has a key jockey booking today with 20% course striker Collett taking over. This isn't much harder and fitter she can go back-to-back. GRINS (2) resumes for a canny local barn and is a lightly raced improver. Placed close-up here at her only fresh outing and will race forward from an inside gate. Has a 1.5kg claim and a bold effort is anticipated. OUTSTANDING REWARD (4) has switched from a Victorian yard on an 18-day return. She must be pleasing and is much better than the form line suggests. Maps well and the blinkers come off. PAPAVER MINER (6) went close here this grade last time and keeps the 2kg claim. Draws handy and will get every chance.

Race 3 1000m BM 65

ASURIITO (6) has won both starts and they stack right up. He will be fitter again and will control the race from the inside barrier. Innes stays aboard and he can keep the ball rolling. MOUNTAIN CHATTER (4) has plenty of ability. Didn't have the best of it in a 66 at Goulburn first-up and won both starts prior. Has a handy 2kg claim and stripping fitter is a threat. PRETTY VEGAS (3) runs along and peaks off a 1.5L defeat at Wagga. Collett is a positive jockey booking and she's also a chance. UNRAVEL (1) resumes for the Kelley yard and has switched from a NSW barn. Races in easier and has won 2/3 fresh. The claim helps some with the weight lift and the speed-bred gelding must be kept safe.

Race 4 2000m BM 65

Competitive. AUNT ROBERTA (2) wasn't beaten far at Moruya stepping up to this distance and then belted the 58 graders by 3L at Goulburn. She can keep improving and keeps the handy 3kg claim. She can go back-to-back with average luck pushing forward from an awkward gate. FINAL COMMENT (3) was expected to win a 66 at Dubbo but didn't finish it off. Missed a lip at Hawkesbury prior at this trip/grade and that reads well. Maps for a soft run and the 1.5kg claim is handy. RUFF (9) has been plain in his last two but the runs prior stack up. JVO is reunited and the gelding has solid middle-distance form. Maps for the run of the race. WHERE IS KEN (5) is knocking on the door and will have his admirers.

Race 5 1600m CL1

TULSI (10) peaks and two back was only beaten 1.6L in the Mona Lisa Stakes. Didn't have the best of it in a Group 3 last time. Heywood goes aboard and she tumbles in grade. Has an awkward barrier but has a class edge and should have them well-covered. TORIE'S ROSE (9) delivered an overdue Maiden win at Hawkesbury racing forward. Has a wide gate but presents on the fresh side and can pounce if the above falters. GHOST WALKER (2) did about what was expected at Rosehill but deserved the tidy Wagga Maiden win prior. Maps well and winning rider JVO is reunited. A quinella hope as well. TAYTAY BAY (5) will be better over the mile and his best would see him in the money.

Race 6 1400m — Open — Federal

CAPITAL HEART (6) looks another winning chance for the Matt Dale stable. Impressed delivering a CL1 at Moruya heavily bet but didn't quite finish it off there following in an Open 3. Gets in light this grade with a handy 3kg claim atop. On a 7 day return and will be hard to beat. INVERTATIONAL (3) won this grade here first up working home in good style. She is proven second-up and has more to give. Has a small claim and will be powering late. TAVOLO (7) will be fitter again and is also a chance. Maps for the run of the race and tumbles in weight. Maps well and will get every chance. MANDERBOSS (2) found the Open at Bathurst too tough as expected, but he was in range at Warwick Farm at his previous two. Has an inside gate and must be kept onside.

Race 7 1300m CL1

LAMBAY (4) resumes and since his heavily bet Maiden win has been racing in stronger than this. Resumes today and will be naturally improved. Maps well and he will be tough to beat. ALL TOO SNEAKY (3) resumed at Taree and did about what was expected. She will be a lot sharper today and her best is good enough. Races forward and Heywood's booking is a decent push for her chances. GOLDEN FAIRY (9) spiked her figures winning a Maiden at Nowra. 20% course striker Collett remains aboard and will give her every chance to go on. DAME ANNIE (6) belted the Gundagai Maidens by 5L and then produced a tidy effort this grade at Nowra. Peaks and maps to get every chance.

Race 8 1300m MDN

SPACE ACE (3) is a Pierro gelding on debut for a top Sydney yard. He's been well-trialled in town looking sharp. He's likely to control the race from an inside gate and this is a winnable assignment. CASSETTE (12) also represents a quality Sydney barn and needed the first-up run. Draws awkwardly but Collett sticks aboard, and quick improvement is anticipated. MALBORK CASTLE (10) has a late jockey declaration and will take his place. Needed the experience at Canterbury on debut. He's been fitted out with two trials and the early betting suggests he'll race well. LOVE ITALY (8) will be better for the three runs at the provincials. Heywood is booked suggesting we'll see a more competitive effort.
