Sydney Specials: Kembla Grange - 23 November 2024

3 minute read

Another strong meeting presents on Saturday where we head to Kembla Grange for the Group 3 Illawarra Mercury Gong (1600m) and the Group 3 Snap Print Solutions Wollongong The Warra (1000m), the two features on the ten-race card.

Putting our faith in the lightly-raced Gai Waterhouse and Adrian Bott trained stayer Alalcance, who's our best of the day in the PDF Food Services BM78 Hcp (2000m).

The progressive daughter of Mastercraftsman from a Galileo mare made her Australian debut at start five after coming across from Ireland.

Alalcance was thirteen months between runs when sitting on the speed before clearing out for a dominant 3.7 length victory over 2140m at Warwick Farm on September 25.

She returns tomorrow with the two trials over 1200m in readiness for this, and is expected to progress through her grades over the summer before being set for the stronger staying races in the autumn.

Tim Clark rides tomorrow and he will be positive early from the wide gate to sit on the good tempo.

Alalcance looks great value sitting around the $4 quote and has untapped staying potential.

Our next best comes up in the Abax Civil BM88 Hcp (1600m), with the John Sargent trained mare Unique Ambition.

She struggled to finish the 1800m off last time out with the 58.5kg when fourth to Modesty.

Tomorrow she sits on the limit weight and maps to get the gun run at the good odds of $10.
