3 minute read

We head to Narrogin on Thursday for seven races with the Railway Stakes right on our doorstep.

Don't miss a moment of the action live and free on 7Plus and Racing WA

Race 1:  BETTER YOUR BET WITH TABtouch MAIDEN HANDICAP (1900m)

SPANISH KAT (6) has switched yards and drops back 200m on a 29-day return. Will find this a lot easier than Belmont and went close at Bunbury prior. That's good form. COVENTRY REEF (1) has been racing well enough at the provincials. He presents on a 7-day return and will settle back and come late. BONDI KING (3) quickly stepped up to a middle distance at Bunbury and will be better for it. He will also give away a start but quick improvement won't surprise. ROYAL TROOPER (9) is fit and will likely appreciate the longer trip.

Race 2:  RACING WA CAREERS IN RACING MAIDEN HANDICAP (1100m)

Tricky. EXTRA ZERO (1) raced well in town last campaign and didn't have the best of it at Bunbury first-up well supported. He's placed second up and sets a decent standard. TWELVEUNDER (11) found Belmont a bit tough but finished within range at Northam prior. She peaks now and the inside gate should advantage. SCARY MARY (10) was slow off at Ascot on debut and immediately spelled. She's been off the scene for a while but will be naturally improved and just missed in a recent Lark Hill trial. The gate is awkward but the 2kg claim is handy. SASSYASSA (9) has a wide gate but showed enough at Northam on debut to consider. The blinkers are on.

Race 3:  ARE YOU A NARROGIN RACING MEMBER YET HANDICAP (1190m)

KINGS FLIRT (5) was beaten less than 2L at Belmont and Bunbury before a plainer effort at Northam. She maps well and 2x winning rider Yuill is reunited. Comes back 210m but she's well placed ZAC LUVS TO FLY (3) led and spiked his figures beaten 1L in a Northam 75. Carries more weight but she draws to advantage and will give a big sight. BERRY BERRY GOOD (6) resumes and has won fresh. Rates well and best and brings a solid Lark Hill trial. The betting will be key. ENSIGN PULVER (2) may be best of the rest.

Race 4:  TRIPLE MS NIGHTS WITH GLEESO HANDICAP (1720m)

LIEN HYPHEN (2) peaks off a 1.6L defeat at Northam over a mile. Raced a short-priced favourite in that and she should be winning in country grade. SABINO (4) is better suited here than Northam last time. His two Geraldton runs prior were okay and he can improve over this distance. He should be around the mark. SHAOLIN TEMPLE (8) did a good job from the back just missing at York over 1920m. Maps for the run of the race and may go on with it now. ASARKA (6) wasn't beaten far in the same race and is going well enough to fill a slot.

Race 5:  THANK YOU TO OUR VOLUNTEERS HANDICAP (1190m)

GRACE ROSE (4) peaks off three metro outings. She was within range twice and didn't have the best of runs last time. She won't know herself in a country 44. SPEEDY NOVA (5) is third-up and can show more like her best. She finally draws a low barrier and the in-form Galati takes over from the 2kg apprentice. STORM LORD (3) peaks and he surprised the market when beaten 1.1L at Belmont three weeks ago. He will be in the money holding that form. CHAD'S ME DAD (2) led at Ascot first-up and dropped right out. She was required to trial following and did it in style at Lark Hill. Maps for the run of the race and should be much sharper today.

Race 6:  GREAT SOUTHERN WASTE CASH FOR CANS HANDICAP (1100m)

OCEAN OUTLAW (4) went well at Northam before belting the Collie Maidens by 5.6L. He was on speed here following and found one better. Has the advantage of an inside barrier and is a decent chance to bounce. NORMA STARS (9) has been racing in town and found more like her best beaten 2.6L at Belmont last time. This suits and she's a threat with the extra fitness. ART OF CONSENT (2) is also third-up and did nothing against the above at Belmont. She's much better than that and draws the inside gate today and will use it. The 2kg claim brings her into it. FANZ (6) resumes and maps well. He'd be a hope at best and Faithfull's booking is a positive. The betting will be key.

Race 7:  SWAN DRAUGHT HANDICAP (1900m)

MANHATTAN JEWEL (3) was quickly back on track narrowly beaten at York over this distance. 20% stable striker Faithfull stays aboard and she rates to go one better. DESERT SLEEVE (1) just beat the above home in that contest reversing the plain effort at Collie. Keeps the in-form Galati and is a threat. BLAISZEN CAZAH (2) presents off a 1.6L defeat at Belmont in stronger. That's good form but he has to drop back 300m on an 8-day return. He's won 4 times at this track and is sure to feature prominently. CHEROKEE MISS (4) keeps putting in and is up to this at best. Maps for a soft run in transit.
