Race 1: Hidden Witness
Jumping awkwardly, Jacob Opperman elected to take Hidden Witness back in the early stages and was happy to settle his mount there. Stalking the field throughout, Opperman found himself in a pocket when straightening before electing to head back towards the inside to hunt for clear running.
Weaving a passage in the straight, Hidden Witness eventually fanned back out approaching the 100m in search of the quick lane and boy, didn't she let rip!
Taking over at the 50m, the W Clarken & N O'Shea runner ended up putting 2.2L to second as she went to the line under hands and heels.
While ratings suggest she was just an average maiden winner, our sectionals at Racing and Sports back up the eye and tell us the Capitalist four-year-old had a fair bit up her sleeve when crossing the line. Had she been ridden closer to the action the margin would've been even more comprehensive.
She looks a progressive type that has more winning in store.
