Aerobatics played his part in a big day for Team Darley winning the Sportingbet Series Final.
The Darley-raced mare Aerobatics went back at the start from her wide barrier (12) and settled seventh, three wide with cover, following a solid tempo.
She moved up wide rounding the home turn and put in a strong run to dash to the lead at the 200m point. She got a little tired in the closing stages but held on for a good neck win.
Assertive Eagle raced in eighth place, between runners but was blocked for clear running on straightening. Nash Rawiller found a split nearing the 200m and she then ran on well for a sound second.
Counted settled ninth on the rails and got a good run between runners nearing the turn and switched into the clear at the 250m. She then kept fighting on for third, but seemed to have every chance.
Koonoomoo came from tenth at the turn to finish fourth while the favourite Shamal Wind was a handy third most of the way to the turn, challenged on straightening but tired in the final stages for fifth, beaten three lengths.
