Tommy Berry produced another perfectly timed ride on Cosmic Endeavour to narrowly claim the Group 1 Tattersall's Tiara, the last Group 1 of the season.
Cosmic Endeavour scored a narrow victory in a tight three-way finish to hold off the late challenges of both Angel Of Mercy and Avoid Lightning on her outside.
Cosmic Endeavour enjoyed a lovely run in the race, sixth on the fence about five lengths from the leader Steps In Time, who ran along in front under Jimmy Cassidy.
She was held up looking for runs at the top of the straight with Berry trying force his way out into the clear. She got clear running at the 300m and came with a big run in the centre of the track to hit the front at the 100m and just had enough to hold on to score a well deserved victory.
Angel Of Mercy ran a huge race, coming from last and widest at the home turn, to produce a big finish to only just go under. A very good effort in defeat.
Avoid Lightning was also good in defeat. She came from ninth one off the fence in the run. She turned for home four and five wide and when balanced up in the straight came with a big finish to only just miss, a really good effort up in distance and grade.
Catkins raced in fourth position on the back of the leader. She was held up looking for runs at the top of the straight, but came between horses at the 200m to finish on gamely for fourth. A sound effort.
Steps In Time worked hard in front and went very early in the straight. She justifiably tired late on to finish fifth. Red Tracer raced on the outside of Cosmic Endeavour in the run. She was taken to the middle of track on turning for home and worked home at one pace to finish a sound sixth.
