Quayside wins 2014 Penang Trophy Listed $80,000 at Morphettville (SA) 3yo+, 1800m.
Quayside settled well back in the field and was in front of only two runners in the 13-horse field on settling down. She improved nicely, wide with cover, from the 600m and went to the extreme outside on turning for home. She then produced a very good final sprint and finished well to score by half a length, putting up a smart performance.
Held Hostage was a handy fourth, moved up to challenge nearing the turn and hit the lead at the 200m. He then battled on well for a good second, just finding the late-closing winner a bit too good to take second.
Road Trippin’ was eighth between runners, improved under riding between horses rounding the turn
and kept battling on for third after seeming to have every chance while Gamblin’ Guru ran on fairly well from midfield to finish (2.3 lengths) fourth.
