The Sydney-trained mare Atmospherical settled just in behind the leaders in about fifth place, travelling well. James
McDonald switched her across heels, going wider on the track at the 200m, she then dashed to the lead at the 100m and went on to win impressively by a length and a half in fast time (56.45).Consortingwas ridden quietly in about eighth place, between runners. He got through on passing the 300m, went to fifth at the 200m and then fought on for a sound second having no chance with the winner.
The former Hong Kong trained Straight Gold was sixth to the 400m and fought on quite well for third while Flamberge caught the eye running on late from ninth at the 400m for fourth (3.5 lengths).
The favourite Angel’s Beach was a handy fourth, just behind the leaders, looked a threat when she challenged at the 200m but faded on that run to finish seventh (4 lengths).
