Vain Queen was ridden quietly by Damien Oliver settling just behind the pace in sixth place. She was full of running at the 400m, Oliver angled her into the clear at the 300m, she burst to the front shortly afterwards and then raced away to win impressively by three and a half lengths in fast time.

Bounding was close to the pace, travelling comfortably, put in a run nearing the 200m but could not match the acceleration of the winner and fought on nicely for second.

Shamal Wind was smothered behind the pacemakers sitting in about seventh place, travelling well. She managed to switch out at the 300m and kept running on fairly well from that point to dead-heat for third.

Lilliburlero was back in second last place in the 14-horse field to the 400m. She angled for a run at the 300m and finished well when clear to dead-heat for third in a smart first-up effort.

Cradle Me was about eighth between runners, in the centre of the track, and held on fairly well for fifth beaten just over four and a half lengths.

Countedmade ground for sixth (5.4 lengths) while Miracles Of Life was handy to the pace to the 400m but struggled under her 59kg from there to finish seventh (5.9 lengths).
