Turn Me Loose wins 2014 New Zealand 2000 Guineas Group 1 $400,000 at Riccarton Park (NZ), 1600m.
In a competitive early rush for positions, Turn Me Loose travelled smoothly to the outside of the leader and passed the 600m with plenty in hand under rider Opie Bosson. He extended stylishly under a hand ride to lead by two lengths at the 200m and powered clear when asked to win easing down by three.
Eased to last from an outside gate, Rockfast was drawn widest at the 300m and produced a big run to eclipse the remainder of his rivals in finishing second.
Prince Mambo was brave in finishing third after tracking up three wide with cover in midfield from the 1000m.
Platinum Witness tracked the winner throughout in fifth and stuck to her task with gusto for fourth, just ahead of Stratocaster who was right in the fight to finish fifth after receiving a nice run in the trail.
Riding Shotgun made good ground for sixth after being last at the 400m.
