Madam Gangster wins 2015 Frances Tressady Stakes Group 3 $150,000 at Flemington (VIC) 3yo+ Fillies & Mares, 1400m.
The favourite Madam Gangster resumed after winning three in succession last preparation to score a good first-up win. She settled particularly well in third place, behind a very steady pace (first 800m 50.31). She took a rails run in the straight to hit the front at the 200m and then went on to score in good style by almost two lengths.
Girl Guide was sixth, one off the rails, switched out to make her run on passing the 300m and did well to make ground in the sprint home for second, showing a return to form at her third start this campaign.
Nadeem Lass raced outside the leader (Whistle Baby) to the 300m and held on quite well for third.
Girl In Flight was last in the ten-horse field, switched to the rails at the 300m and ran on well for a good (2.4 lengths) fourth, putting up a good first-up effort being disadvantaged by a slow early tempo. She will also appreciate further.
Scarlet Billows made quite good ground from eighth at the turn to finish (3.2 lengths) fifth, also being unsuited by the moderate early tempo.
