Observational wins 2015 Yalumba Golden Mile Listed $150,000 at Bendigo (VIC), 1600m.
Observational was taken back to last from his wide barrier (16) settling down approximately 15 lengths from the leader Marksmanship. He commenced a three wide move from the 800m on the back of Zabisco. Still last on cornering, Observational took the home turn on the outside of the field and he took a few strides to balance up after turning, but quickened up well out wide on the track to get up to score in the last stride. A very good win on his Australian debut.
Evangelist enjoyed a good run in the race in eighth position one of the fence about six lengths from the leader. He switched three and four wide looking for clear running approaching the home turn and was momentarily held up before switching out wider in the straight. He came with a big run late on the outside with the winner to just going under. A good effort.
Dylanson raced in sixth position one out with a trail. He made his move three wide approaching the 600m and turned for home in the clear. He finished on gamely in the straight, hitting the front at the 200m before being swamped in the dying strides by Observational and Evangelist.
Puccini was restrained from his wide barrier (14) to settle down in second last position on the fence. He travelled well in the race with Damian Lane electing to stay closer to the fence on turning for him. He eased out at the top of the straight looking for clear running but disappointed for a run and switched back again closer to the fence. He put in a big finish when clear late under his top weight. A good run in defeat.
