Watermans Bay wins 2015 Victoria Hcp Group 3 $150,000 at Caulfield (VIC), 1400m.
Watermans Bay raced in eighth place between runners, following a moderate tempo, before switching across heels at the 300m. He got to third at the 100m and then finished too well to score a smart win by a short neck.
The Peak settled well but was caught three wide (without cover) in fifth place. He moved up (deep) rounding the home turn, challenged at the 100m and fought gamely for second.
Sistine Demon went to the front and was able to set a steady early pace (first 800m 49.29). He dashed clear at the 300m and was only overhauled in the closing stages for close up third.
Favourite Disposition was seventh, three wide with cover. He was under riding nearing the home turn as the pace increased and kept battling on in the sprint home for (1.6 lengths) fourth. He should appreciate further and a more genuine tempo.
