Faust wins 2015 Channel 7 Premier’s Cup Group 3 $125,000 at Doomben (QLD), 2020m.
James McDonald took Faust to the front and was able to set a very steady tempo in the small field before picking up the pace from the 600m. He then fought off a couple of challengers in the straight and battled back well for a narrow but good win.
South Australian-trained Baligari raced in third place on the rails, switched back to the inside at the 200m and challenged strongly at the 100m before fighting on for a sound second.
Jetset Lad was back in second last place in the seven-horse field, went wide at the home turn and made late ground in the sprint-home to grab a good third on the post.
Wish Come True raced outside the leader, looked a threat in the straight but tired late, just missing third in a photo.
Favourite Hvasstan pulled in the early stages due to the moderate pace, moved up (but was trapped wide) in the mid-stages and dropped out from the home turn to finish last.
