Mohave wins 2015 Nuturf Queensland Day Listed $100,000 at Doomben (QLD) 3yo, 1200m.
Mohave went forward from barrier nine and settled nicely outside the leader. He moved up to challenge on turning for home, got to the front at the 100m and then drew clear for a good win, appreciating a firmer track yesterday. She’s Miss Devine raced in third place on the rails from her good barrier (1). She got through on the inner from the 200m and kept battling on well for a sound second.
Durendal was fifth, between runners, got a split at the 100m but raced a bit ungenerously before battling on for third. Outback Saga was handily placed all the way, moved up at the turn and kept fighting on for (1.3 lengths) fourth.
Good Project caught the eye running on late from last at the home turn to dead-heat for (1.4 lengths) fifth with Mywayorthehighway who led the field until half-way down the straight.
Favourite Peggy Jean had a difficult trip from barrier 12 and after a wide run, held on for a sound (1.6 lengths) seventh at her first run this preparation.
