Danchai wins 2015 Channel 7 Ipswich Cup Listed $175,000 at Ipswich (QLD), 2150m.
Danchai, improved by two runs after resuming early last month, scored a narrow but good win. He settled nicely, well back in seventh place on the rails from his good barrier (2), following a strong pace. He improved along the rails (as the leader Kurtley tired) at the 600m was checked at the turn but recovered and went through to third on straightening. He got to the front half-way down the straight and lifted under pressure in closing stages to win in a photo.
Top weight Banca Mo was a distant ninth to the 600m, got a nice run between runners nearing the home turn and looked the winner when he challenged strongly at the 50m. He then fought gamely for second putting up a good effort after conceding 5kg to the winner.
Darci Be Good was a distant fourth in the midstages, moved up well at the 600m and challenged strongly on straightening. He then kept fighting on well for a sound third.
Three-year-old filly No Tricks was back in third place, made her move nearing the home turn and kept battling on well for fourth, beaten just over a length.
