Addictive Habit wins 2015 Southbank Ins. Brokers Qlty Listed $100,000 at Gold Coast (QLD), 1800m.
New Zealander Addictive Habit scored a good win. He began well and then eased to race in fourth place. He improved to third at the 600m, challenged at the 300m and dashed to the front at the 100m before going on to win decisively.
Made To Order was sixth, one off the rails, and tracked up behind the eventual winner from the 600m. He challenged at the 200m and kept battling on for a sound second.
Favourite Lucky Lago was sixth on the rails, before switching between runners rounding the home turn but she was held up for clear running in the straight and looked a little unlucky in finishing third.
Last year’s Sydney Cup (Gr 1, 3200m) winner The Offer raced near last on the rails, improved nicely on the inner nearing the home turn and got through to challenge at the 200m. But he just battled on from that point under his top weight (61kg) for (2.9 lengths) eighth at his first run in eight months.
