Rebel King wins 2015 H.G. Bolton Sprint Listed $100,000 at Belmont Park (WA) 2yo+, 1200m.
Highly consistent three-year-old Rebel King finished gamely for a narrow but impressive win. He was ridden quietly from barrier two and settled nicely in fifth place, following a good tempo, before fanning deep rounding the home turn. He got to third at the 200m and kept running on strongly to grab a last stride win.
Cool Trade had a good trip in fourth place before moving up well on turning for home. She raced to the front at the 200m and looked the winner but was caught right on the post for the closest of seconds in a bold first-up effort.
Favourite Wink And A Nod did not show much early pace and settled back in seventh place on the rails. She was blocked on straightening, switched back to the rails at the 100m and made late ground, looking a little unlucky in finishing third.
Sujet was second last in the 11-horse field to the 600m, switched deep on straightening and ran on resolutely for a good fourth.
