Wild Rain wins 2015 Lightning Stakes Listed $100,000 at Morphettville (SA) 2,3yo, 1050m.
The favourite Wild Rain was smartly away from her good barrier (2) and settled well outside the leader (Burst Away). She moved up strongly nearing the home turn, dashed to the front coming to the 200m and then fought back well for a good win, her third win from her last five starts.
Cashed raced in seventh place, between runners, before fanning deeper rounding the home turn. He went to third at the 200m, challenged at the 100m and kept fighting well for a good second.
Trupt was back in tenth place to the 600m and was under riding at the home turn. But she responded well from the 200m and came with a late run to grab a promising third in a photo.
Counter Pulse was a handy fourth to the home turn, put in a run on straightening and looked a threat at the 200m but tired a bit from that point, just missing third in a photo for (4.1 lengths) fourth, going best of the two-year-old runners in the field.
