Amicus wins 2015 Toy Show Qlty Group 3 $125,000 at Randwick (NSW) 3yo+Fillies & Mares, 1300m.
Last year’s Thousand Guineas (Gr 1, 1600m) winner Amicus impressed scoring here at her first run since April. She was eased to settle back in fifth place, following a good tempo before switching out to commence her bid on rounding the home turn. She challenged strongly at the 200m, responded to pressure to hit the front at the 50m and then went on for a soft win at the post.
Echo Gal travelled nicely in third place, moved up coming to the home turn, grabbed the lead at the 200m and then fought gamely for a very good second.
Wine Tales was ridden patiently and remained in last place in the eight-horse field to the home turn. She looked for a run along the rails at the 300m but was blocked until clear at the 100m and then made late ground for an unlucky third.
Maastricht has a nice trip in fourth place, challenged at the 200m and then battled on for a sound first-up (2.8 lengths) fourth.
