Churchill Dancer wins 2015 Bobbie Lewis Qlty Group 2 $200,000 at Flemington (VIC) 4yo+, 1200m.
Churchill Dancer began well and settled just behind the leaders in fifth place, following a steady early tempo (first 600m 35.80). He moved up well from the 400m, hit the front at the 50m and fought back to win well.
Under The Louvre raced back in last place in the 13-horse field to the 400m. He switched deep into clear running at the 300m and came with a fast finish for a close second, putting up a smart effort especially considering the sprint home tactics of the race.
Gregers showed her customary pace, shared the lead (at an average tempo), got to a clear lead at the 400m and battled gamely for a close third.
Lucky Hussler was back in tenth place, but just behind the leading group. He then got along the rails to challenge at the 300m and then kept battling on nicely for a sound (1.3 lengths) first-up fourth.
Amorino, also resuming, was back in 11th place, but not far off the leaders and held on quite well over the final stages for (1.6 lengths) sixth, while the favourite Rich Enuff raced close to the pace, but was under pressure from the 400m and just battled over the latter stages for (1.8 lengths) sixth in a disappointing effort.
