Buffering wins 2015 City Jeep Moir Stakes Group 1 $450,000 at Moonee Valley (VIC) 3yo+, 1000m.
Buffering recorded his fifth Group One victory with a great first-up win. He was quickly away and showed terrific early pace to take the lead, despite a lot of pressure. He then fought off challengers in the straight, lifting gamely for a narrow but impressive win.
Ball Of Muscle drove through along the rails from his inside barrier (1) and raced behind the leader to the home turn. He challenged along the rails in the straight and fought on for a good second.
Angelic Light settled back in seventh place, following the strong pace and came with a good late run for third in a smart first-up performance. Headwater was back in fifth place and kept battling on soundly in the straight for (1.3 lengths) fourth.
Griante caught the eye running on late from near last to finish (1.4 lengths) fifth.
Flamberge did well in holding on for sixth while Brook Road impressed coming from the tail of the field for (1.9 lengths) seventh.
The three-year-old fillies: Fontiton raced outside the leader and eventual winner (Buffering) and only tired late for (2 lengths) eighth while Petits Filous was fourth to the 600m, briefly putting in a bid nearing the home turn but fading to finish (3.6 lengths) tenth, being tested by the sudden rise in class.
