Serious Satire wins 2015 Hawkes Bay Breeders Gold Trail Group 3 NZ$70,000 at Hastings (NZ) 3yoFillies, 1200m.
Serious Satire bounced from the gate quite well but was allowed to settle midfield, off the rails. At the 600, jockey Danielle Johnson shook the filly up and she made a nice move, fairly wide, to get into the race. Her momentum carried her to within four lengths of the leader by the 200, levelling up past the 100 and finally gaining the upper hand with 50m left to run for a deserved win.
Serena Miss was well back until rounding the corner and made a strong run on the winner’s outside but was outlasted.
Strata Lady, from her inside barrier (2), went to the front, was headed but led again at the top of the straight. Clear at the 200, she fought well and was only passed in the last 50 metres.
