Fenway wins 2015 Strathayr Track Stocks Stakes Group 2 $200,000 at Moonee Valley (VIC) 4yo+Mares, 1600m.
Fenway scored a very good win at her second run this preparation. She travelled well in third place on the rails, following a strong tempo. She moved up (under riding) approaching the home turn, took the lead at the 100m and then drew clear to score quite impressively.
May's Dream had a perfect trip behind the free-running leader Amanpour, challenged nearing the home turn and then fought on well for a good second, just finding the winner a bit too good.
Scratchy Bottom was back in fifth place on the rails, got to fourth (under strong riding) and kept battling on well in the closing stages for a good third in a solid staying effort.
Ungrateful Ellen settled in second last place in the seven-horse field, improved coming to the home turn and kept running on well for a promising (2.6 lengths) fourth, looking suited to further.
Amanpour went to the front, ran along at a strong pace, held a clear break at the 600m but tired shortly afterward to finish (3.6 lengths) fifth after being set quite a task.
