Blathwayt wins 2015 Ricoh Feilding Gold Cup Listed NZ$50,000 at Awapuni (NZ), 2100m.
Blathwayt, from barrier four, found the rails and settled midfield turning into the far bend and remained in that position down the back straight. Starting the home bend the field packed up and Blathwayt found room one off the rails and moved closer to the leaders. Pulling wider just prior to straightening he took a few strides to balance then passing the 300 metres made his challenge out in the middle of the track. Inside the final 100 metres he kept up his momentum and took over decisively inside the last 50 metres to win comfortably.
Thorn Prince was never on the fence and was widest around the corner and into the home straight. Although under a hard ride he never flinched and kept up a strong gallop to nudge out Authentic Paddy at the finish.
Authentic Paddy narrowly lead past the 600 metres and tried to break clear once into the straight. He fought well all the way to the line just losing second just before the post.
