Charmed Harmony wins 2015 Sandown Stakes Group 3 $150,000 at Sandown-Hillside (VIC), 1500m.
Charmed Harmony was smartly away and soon took up his customary role in front. He then settled well, steading the pace before lifting the tempo nearing the home turn. He got a break at the 400m and then fought back gamely in the sprint home (last 600m 33.80) for a really good win.
Tashbeeh raced in seventh place on the rails, tracked through well shortly after straightening, going to second at the 200m. He then battled well to hold that position at the post, just finding the winner a bit too strong, despite conceding him 4kg.
Burning Front has a nice trip behind the leader to the home turn and held on quite well for third. Ninth Legion was handy all the way and held on well in the straight for (1.4 lengths) fourth.
Harada Bay was a handy fifth all the way and held that placing, beaten just over two lengths, while the favourite Mr Utopia was a bit slowly away, settled in eighth place and made ground in the sprint home, without looking dangerous, to finish (2.5 lengths) sixth.
