Dubai Escapade wins 2015 Tattersall’s Cup Listed $100,000 at Ascot (WA) 3yo+, 2100m.
Dubai Escapade settled nicely in seventh place on the rails from his inside barrier (1). He switched across heels on turning for home, got into clear running at the 200m and finished well to for a narrow but good win. It was also a really good ride by Lucy Warwick.
Top weight (59kg) Kirov Boy settled towards the rear, wide with cover, from his difficult barrier (13). He then made a quick mid-race move, when the pace slackened and he raced to the front at the 1000m. He then kept fighting back gamely in the straight, only being caught in the last few strides for a very good second.
Favourite Young Lionel led in the early stages, slowed the pace at the 1200m and was overtaken and then travelled in second spot. He challenged strongly at the 200m and then kept battling on well for a close-up third.
