Secret Saga wins 2015 Mode Plate Listed $100,000 at Doomben (QLD) 3yoFillies, 1200m.
Favourite Secret Saga put up a really good effort in winning here. She was slow to move from her wide barrier (11) and was near last in the early stages but then showed terrific early pace and worked before crossing to the lead the 900m. She grabbed a good break on turning for home and then understandably tired in the closing stages after her early efforts, but still held on grimly to score a good win in a photo finish.
La Dolce Vita was smartly away from her good barrier (3) and led in the early stages before settling in second place, behind Secret Saga. She set out after that filly on straightening and continued to peg back her lead, failing narrowly at the post for a really good second.
Madotti settled back in ninth place, between runners. She switched deeper on turning for home and came with a good late run for an eye-catching third.
Kris Lees-trained filly Riapinka was seventh on the rails, got through on the inner on turning for home to be third at the 100m before holding on for a sound fourth, beaten just under two lengths.
