Perfect Reflection 2015 Tabtouch-Kingston Town Classic Group 1 $1 Million at Ascot (WA) 3yo+, 1800m.
Perfect Reflection stamped herself as a high quality filly in taking out this weight-for-age Group One race, maintaining her unbeaten record in the process. She settled back in 12th place, wide with cover, travelling well. She moved up strongly (very wide) rounding the home turn, sprinted quickly to hit the front at the 200m and then dug deep in holding on to score in a photo.
Delicacy was last in the 16-horse field before tracking up behind her stablemate Perfect Reflection at the home turn. She got to second at the 200m, challenged strongly at the 100m and fought gamely, missing by the narrowest of margins in yet another gallant effort.
Outsider Dark Musket was also well back, racing near last to the home turn. He moved up, widest of all, coming to the home turn, got to fifth at the 200m and kept battling strongly to take the minor placing.
Neverland was 11th, between runners, tracked through (wide) at the home turn before she switched back toward the inner at the 200m and then battled well for (5.3 lengths) fourth, giving owner Bob Peters a triumphant result with three of his runners finishing in the first four placings.
Fred Kersley-trained filly Blackwood was tenth, wide with cover, moved up smartly rounding the home turn, hit the front on straightening and then held on well for (5.8 lengths) fifth.
Of the other favoured runners: Black Hart Bart was midfield, between runners, but failed to run on in the Heavy8 conditions to finish ninth while Magic Artist was handily placed in fifth place on the rails but also appeared to struggle in the conditions and finished a disappointing 13th.
