Sold For Song wins 2015 Star Liquor Gold Edition Plate Listed $100,000 at Doomben (QLD) 3yo, 1200m.
Toowoomba-trained filly Sold For Song drifted back from barrier one and settled beyond mid-field on the rails, following a fast pace (first 600m 34.83). She improved nicely along the rails at the 600m, stuck to the inner and got through inside the leader at the 200m. She then hit the front at the 100m and finished too well for a strong win.
La Dolce Vita began brilliantly, went to the front and ran along at a brisk tempo. She was only headed on passing the 100m and did well in holding on for second after going quickly in the early stages.
Privlaka raced in third place, but caught three wide without cover, in a solid early tempo. But she stuck to her task well in the straight and did well in holding on to take the minor placing.
Favourite My Girl Hayley was sixth, between runners, was under riding on straightening and just battled on in the Soft7 conditions to finish (6.3 lengths) sixth while second favourite Secret Saga was always well back and never looked a chance before finishing (12 lengths) eighth, also racing below her best in the wet conditions.
