Weregoingtogetcha wins 2015 Hotel Coachman Manawatu Cup Group 3 NZ$100,000 at Awapuni (NZ), 2300m.
Weregoingtogetcha took an early lead, a trail then completely lost his position with a round to go. Down the back straight, he hugged the fence but had two behind him starting the far corner. Just before straightening he got off the fence to join the fanning field then ran into a flat spot. Jockey Mark Du Plessis had to wait for King Kamada to clear then gave the gelding two slaps and he bounded into gear, gathering in the leaders easily and running away for a clear and impressive win.
King Kamada was well back down the back straight then moved up and around to be better than midfield starting the far corner but found himself widest turning in. He lodged a claim but the winner flashed by quite easily but finished best of the rest.
Sampson was wide around the first corner then moved up to be almost level with the leader (Authentic Paddy) approaching the far corner. He narrowly took over at the top of the straight and kept up a solid gallop but was unable to withstand the winner’s storming run.
