Mister Impatience wins 2016 Wallaceville Wellington Cup Group 2 NZ$200,000 at Trentham (NZ), 3200m.
Mister Impatience was away well from the gates and settled down in fourth position on the fence behind the leader Sampson who set a steady tempo in front. He improved his position to third up the back, travelling well in the run and held his position on the fence with some mid-race moves around the fence. Staying the fence Sam Spratt was able to secure a gap on the inside of Sampson who rolled off the fence at the 400m and push through gamely chasing Pentathlon who got first run. He would not give in and found the whole way to the line to win in a narrow photo finish.
The runner up Pentathlon settled down in fifth position on the fence following the winner before switching out three wide to commence a forward move from the 900m. In striking distance on turning for home he made his move very early hitting the front at the 400m. He responded to hard riding the whole way to the line but was denied by the narrowest of margins.
Sampson who led early battled on gamely for third. A sound staying effort.
