Twist Tops wins 2016 Inglis Classic $250,000 at Randwick (NSW) 2yo, 1200m.
Twist Tops was smartly away from barrier ten and then eased to settle in fifth place, following a quick early pace (first 600m 34.42). She improved rounding the home turn, challenged nearing the 200m and after hitting the front at the 100m fought back well for a good win.
Soviet Secret was ridden quietly from her wide barrier (12) and settled back in ninth place, between runners before James McDonald angled her deeper and into clear running at the 250m. She then challenged strongly at the 100m and fought well for a very good second.
Outsider Can't Find Snippy raced in third place, one off the rails, moved up well to briefly take the lead at the 200m and she then held on well for a close-up third.
Favourite Wonderful Story was midfield between runners, was under pressure from the 200m and just battled on from that point to finish (7.2 lengths) seventh, disappointing on debut in the Soft 6 conditions.
