Weatherly wins 2016 Talindert Stakes Listed $120,000 at Flemington (VIC) 2yo, 1100m.
Weatherly was again slow to move and was last of the small group on the grandstand side, after drawing barrier 14. He headed them off (on that side of the track) at the 300m, but still had ground to make up on the runners on the rails side, being 12th at that point of the race. He then dashed to a clear lead at the 100m and drew away to score most impressively.
Conscious also came down the grandstand side, racing in second place in that group. He suddenly made ground from the 100m and then fought well for a good second, in a promising performance on debut.
Jackson settled well back behind the main group on the rails wide. He commenced his move nearing the 300m, put in a strong bid at the 100m and finished too well for the runners on that side of the track to take a good third.
