Azkadellia wins 2016 Premier Signs Mannerism Stakes Group 3 $150,000 at Caulfield (VIC) 4yo+Mares, 1400m.
After placings at her last three starts at Group level, promising mare Azkadellia broke through for her first stakes win in taking out the Group Three race. She settled back in tenth place from her wide barrier (10), behind a steady pace (first 800m 48.81) before improving (three wide) from the 800m. She switched deeper on straightening, sprinted quickly to challenge at the 50m and finished too well for a narrow but impressive win, sprinting home in quick time (33.63 last 600m).
Tuscan Sling settled in sixth place, one off the rails, tracked up nearing the home turn, got to the front on passing the 100m and was only headed nearing the post for a good second.
Miss Rose De Lago went to the front, steadied the early pace, got a break at the 300m and fought back gamely for a close-up third.
Outsider My Sister Lil settled in fifth place on the rails from her inside barrier (1), improved between runners nearing the home turn and fought on surprisingly well for a close fourth, beaten just under a half-length.
