Selenia wins 2016 3aw 693 Festival Of Racing Listed $120,000 at Flemington (VIC) 2yo, 1000m.
Twelve of the 15 runners elected to head to the grandstand side whereas Selenia and three others remained near the inside when the field split. She held second among this group but by the 400m shared the lead then took over passing the 200m. She kept up a strong run to edge clear at the 100m and held on well to the finish, her maiden win following two fourth placed efforts at Group level.
Alter Call, also on the inner, led early, was passed by the winner at the 200m and held on quite gamely for second.
Over on the grandstand side, Creativity was second early (of that group) then took over passing the 200m and ran on well to the line for a good third.
