No More Tears wins 2016 Stella Artois Mr Tiz Trophy Group 3 NZ$70,000 at Ellerslie (NZ) 3yo, 1200m.
No More Tears was away well and found a nice trail in behind the leaders. Inching forward into fourth she saved precious ground to the turn then moved off the fence to challenge. Into the straight, a gap presented and she ranged up to the leader and took over, putting a break on the field and had the race won at the 150m, yet ridden out holding off a late challenge for her fourth win (third stakes) in eight starts.
Volks Lightning was last early and still last upon straightening then unwound very strongly out in the middle of the track for a terrific second.
Windborne was well back around the corner and had to switch ground back to the inner to get a run, threading her way through in fine style right to the line for a very good third.
