Precious Gem wins 2016 Robert Sangster Classic Group 1 $400,000 at Morphettville (SA) Fillies & Mares, 1200m.
Precious Gem put up a smart effort to score. She settled midfield in the large 20-horse field and angled nicely between runners rounding the home turn. She then sprinted quickly from the 200m to grab a last-stride win on the post.
Sheidel was a handy third but was hindered at the home turn (by the riderless Miss Promiscuity) before getting to the front at the 100m only to be caught on the post for a very good second.
I Love It was ninth on the rails, improved along the inner at the home turn and almost hit the front at the 100m before battling on well for third.
Griante was back towards the tail of the field, got along the rails at the home turn and kept running on well for (1.7 lengths) fourth.
