Archives wins 2016 McGrath Estate Agents Hampden Listed $100,000 at Doomben (QLD) 2yo, 1200m.
Godolphin-raced colt Archives did well advancing to score in Listed class here after his promising debut in a Two-Year-Old Handicap (1100m) at Rosehill on 7 May. He began well from his inside barrier (1), settled in third place on the rails before getting through on the inner to hit the front at the 200m. He then lifted gamely when challenged, holding on well for a narrow but good win.
Jericho went back from his wide barrier (9) and was last in the ten-horse field at the home turn. He got along the rails on straightening and got a split to challenge on passing the 200m. He then kept fighting very well for a close second, putting up a smart effort.
Redouble raced outside the leader (Baltic Whisper), briefly hit the front at the 200m and then held on quite well for a sound third.
