Kentucky Miss wins 2016 Cap D’Antibes Stakes Listed $120,000 at Flemington (VIC) 3yoFillies, 1100m.
From the outside barrier, Damien Oliver bounced Kentucky Miss out well. Passing the 800m, Oliver held his line out widest as the field split into two divisions. Approaching the 400m, Kentucky Miss shared the lead with two runners on her inner plus two more down on the rail, but was travelling well. Oliver shook the filly up at the 200m and they slowly edged clear with 100m left to run although Oliver had to keep at her and to hold on at the finish.
Beyond The Dream tracked the winner past the 400m, she was pulled wider at the 300m and kept going determinedly all the way to post for a solid second without ever looking like she would overhaul the winner.
My Country shared the lead to the 300m, could not accelerate with the winner but came on quite well over the last 100m to hold a good third.
