Hear The Chant wins 2016 Thoroughbred Club Stakes Group 3 $150,000 at Caulfield (VIC) 3yoFillies, 1200m.
Hear The Chant, who was having only her third race start, put up a very promising effort in taking out this Group Three race. She settled in eighth place, tracking a very solid pace (first 600m 34.57). She moved up nicely (wide with cover) rounding the home turn and then came with a good run, finishing a bit too well to grab a last stride win.
My Country raced in sixth place, put in a run on straightening, challenged at the 100m and battled strongly for a close second.
Modern Wonder began well but drifted back to be tenth nearing the home turn. She was taken widest of all (under riding) at the 200m and then came with a late run to take a good third.
The favourite In The Vanguard led the field until halfway down the straight but disappointed after working in the early stages to finish (2.4 lengths) seventh.
