Caipirinha wins 2016 Arlec Australia-Belgravia Stks Listed $100,000 at Ascot (WA) 3yo, 1200m.
Three-year-old filly Caipirinha, after showing potential in not finishing further back that fourth in four prior starts including two sound efforts in Group class, broke through for her first win here, doing so in good style. She settled nicely in second place, behind a steady pace (first 600m 36.09) before moving up to take the lead nearing the home turn. She then dashed clear and went on to win well.
Saul's Special was back in eighth place, made a move from the 600m, switched deeper at the 300m and then ran on well for a good second.
Get Over It was a handy fourth, moved up coming to the home turn, challenged on straightening and then battled on nicely for a sound first up third, his first defeat in three starts to date.
