Prompt Response wins 2016 Twilight Glow Stakes Listed $120,000 at Sandown-Hillside (VIC) 3yoFillies, 1400m.
After racing consistently in her four prior starts this preparation, all in stakes class, Prompt Response broke through for her win at that level in nine starts to date. She led early on from her good barrier (2) and eased to settle nicely in third place on the rails, behind a very steady tempo (first 800m 51.55). Damien Oliver got her along the inner to take the lead at the 300m. She then fought back well in the sprint home (last 600m in 33.43) to win well.
Hear The Chant raced in fifth place, one off the rails, before switching deep at the home turn. She challenged at the 300m and kept fighting well in the sprint home for a very good second in a promising effort.
Petition, who is still a maiden after four starts, put up a smart effort here. She settled back in tenth place, one off the rails before improving shortly after turning for home. She then kept running on very well for third after being disadvantaged by the slow early tempo and was timed to run her last 600m in a fast 32.70.
